BOHO CHIC :: PEACH LACE TRIM DRESS

Happy Friday Guys! I am sharing a re-fashion project with you today. Although I was unable to participate in the Thrift Store Couture Sew Along challenge with the sewing community Pretty Girls Sew, I recently had a chance to check out my local thrift store and take the challenge on my own. The challenge required participants to refashion an item bought from a thrift store.

I found the dress below for $5 and was immediately attracted to the delicate lace detail of the neckline. The original dress was a bit too dated for my taste and the elasticized waistline would not work for my baby bump.

So, I made the following changes to make the dress more maternity friendly:
  • First, I  removed the original zipper
  • Next, I detached the entire lace neckline from the bodice
  • Then, I used the portion of the fabric below the elasticized waistline to create a new swing style front and back bodice. I made the new bodice length a few inches above the knee.
  • Finally, I attached the lace neckline to the new bodice, re-installed the zipper and hemmed the dress.
The result is this boho chic swing dress.

Have an awesome weekend and thanks for stopping by!

xoxo
